The Old "Bait and Switch"
Some window companies do just that. They will show up and give you an incredible price on windows, and then surprise they are one window short on the day of your installation. And sure enough your contract shows that you signed for one less window. This is often called the old bait-and-switch. Because you wanted six windows and not five, you're stuck paying whatever price they ask for that last window on the day of installation. Window Buyer Beware!
Watch out, many window companies are simply out to sell you a basic window that barely meets the requirements to be considered an energy-savings window. If you see a $190 vinyl window special, you'd be wise to turn and run. Why? It's simple. Lower-grade windows and patio doors are inferior and often made with a cheap PVC substructure (which can bend, leading to more energy-loss than the old windows you've replaced!) and regular dual-pane glass (without "low-e" coating or a gas chamber).
